The lesson hung in every frame: “Defend your name and suffer any fight for it. And build a wall around yourself ’cause no-one else will take up arms in protest.” What could such honour drones together all compose? How could they ever understand the sense behind the prose? You know that breeze that hits your ear? You have the choice of how you want to hear it! And if you look right at your eyes you’ll find the whites face in but pupils outwards! Every sharp letter shown: a puzzle to be known. Unwrap that gift and climb inside the truth you have been thrown! We don’t have to break. You’re more than a sum of words. I want to see you whole.

Kaleidoscope 06:20
This is an early warning sign You need to find some truth And rotate the kaleidoscope To multiply your view You must swim beyond the primaries Or sleep under a low roof This is an early warning sign You stagnate or you choose See in colour Hear through space See in colour Hear through space Now what did you expect from life? A paint-by-numbers world? You’ll live within what you create With all your flags unfurled See in colour Hear through space See in colour Hear through space

Sailing on a sea of never mind Living in a world I’d left behind Running through a town of inside out Never knowing what my view’s without ’Cause all I see Is inside of me And I guess you feel But I’m not sure And all I feel Is under my seal Could I tear if off? And let out that much blood? And even in my house of skin on skin Do I ever truly let you in? And is my fear as cold as yours? And do we speak our love behind locked doors? ’Cause all I see Is what I can be I would think outside this sphere But it’s so dark And all I give away Is from yesterday Could you take my “now”? Could you drink that much blood?

You were everything I wanted For just one night Sharing stories from a heatwave I could taste it in the wine An American girl named after an English queen Left me with all these photographic memories Of angels and gods and the spaces in between It seemed real to me Some moments stay to linger Others will just pass If my words will be forgotten I don’t have to take them back An American girl named after an English queen Left me with all these photographic memories Of angels and gods and the spaces in between It seemed real to me The past can bend you but cannot break you An American girl named after an English queen Left me with all these photographic memories Of angels and gods and the spaces in between It seemed real to me…
5.
Closed 03:10
Your head is full so you tear down every school that you cross You have no change ’cause you spent it all on lounging and loss You’re saturated Syncopated You are closed Look me in the eye You’re not that old So take back what you sold Segmented world, you have chosen to live in just one slice If nothing’s new then I guess that there is no good advice No therapy No chemistry You are closed Look me in the eye You’re not that old Just let your lines unfold The air is thick and you breathe it in Not an island now, there’s a world of links And you can’t turn back and you won’t look down ’cause this life is big and the sky is ours

Sylvan Song 04:45
Life overflows From this soil No space for my Steps to fall Distant bells toll Draw my mind back Crawling voices Self so small I took this path to find my thoughts To share the darkness with old roots But sunlight always filters in Stranded in birdsong, never new I took this path to find my thoughts To share the darkness with old roots But sunlight always filters in All at once White noise drops Perfect circle Crystal night Genes unfurled from Ancient trees Breath embraced by Thrill of peace

Making this record has been a collaborative experience from start to finish. Everyone contributed ideas, energy, jokes, inspiration, friendship. It’s been hugely rewarding, especially looking back at some of the songs written as early as 2013, which evolved very gradually over the course of several years. We hope that you can hear some of all of that in the record – and, more importantly, that you enjoy it.
